History:
A group of Protestant Missionaries visited Bamanpukur in 1805. After several years Mr. Basant Naskar and Mr. Prabodh Naskar came in contact with
Catholic Missionaries and became a Catholic. Mr. Basant Naskar was then the Catechist of Bamanpukur who kept contact with Catholic priests of Sacred
Heart Church Dharmatala. Later on Fathers from Basanti Parish catered Bamanpukur as a sub-station. From 1975 onwards Bamanpukur sub-station came
under Kumrokhali Parish and Fr. Ante Gabric, SJ built a concrete church on the land donated by Mr. Anil Naskar. With the request of the faithful of
Bamanpukur, it was raised into a Parish on June 19, 2005 and entrusted to the care of Franciscan Capuchin Fathers (OFM Cap) of St. Fidelis Province,
Lucknow. Fr. Philip Lakra, OFM Cap was appointed its First Parish Priest. Capuchin fathers left the parish in 2010 since then Fr. Francis Makhal has taken
charge of the parish as first diocesan priest. The small church built by Late Rev. Fr. Ante Gabric, SJ in late 1970 had been pulled down and replaced with new
Church building during the tenure of parish priest Rev. Fr. J. Pathinathan in 2016.
