History:
The Jesuits with the intention of starting a Pastoral Centre bought a land
at Kalikanan, Baruipur through the help of late Fr. Abani Sardar in 1993. Later
on the Jesuits donated it to the diocese for the same purpose. Since the location
was not deemed to be convenient, the present location was chosen for it. Dishari
was inaugurated on March 27, 2007

History:
The Family Commission of the diocese was started in January 1999
with four staff operating from the sacristy of Sonarpur parish (an asbestos shed
used as church with a curtain behind the altar separating the sacristy from the
church). Fr. Pradeep Roy was the first Director. The present building was
constructed in 2002 and given the name – ‘Paribar Jyoti Counseling and
Training Centre’. It was registered as a Society under the name ‘Baruipur
Paribar Jyoti’, under West Bengal Societies Act XXVI of 1961, with registration
number S/1L/71358 dated June 8, 2010 with Bishop as the ex-officio President
and an Executive Committee of 7 persons.
