Ordination of Fr. Sarojit Mandal

Deacon Sarojit Mandal received his Priestly Ordination on the 11th of February 2022 in the Church of Our Lady of Fatima, Gosaba. For the ordination, he was led in procession with entrance dance accompanied by bishops and priests. The Holy Mass was presided over by his Lordship Most Rev. Shyamal Bose, the bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Baruipur. Fr. Sarojit Mandal is the second vocation from the Parish. There were many priests, few sisters and a good number of faithful present for the occasion along with the family of the newly ordained to witness the joyous event. The rite of ordination began after the homily consisted of Election of the Candidate, Promise of the Elect, Litany of Supplication, Laying On of Hands, Prayer of Ordination, Vesting of the Newly Ordained, The Anointing of the Hands, Handing over of the Bread and Wine and Fraternal Kiss.

Then the liturgy of the Eucharist proceeded as usual. At the end of the ceremony the newly ordained priest gratefully acknowledged the contribution of his parents, teachers, bishops, formators, priests and religious for making him what he is. Meanwhile he was congratulated for having received the sacerdotal ordination and was greeted with garland and bouquet. All the nitty-gritty of the ceremony was well planned and executed by Rev. Fr. John Britto, the liturgy incharge and Rev. Fr. Rajesh Bag, the MC of the day. The choir rose up to the occasion in the leadership of Rev. Fr. Ramen Pailan. The whole ceremony ended with community meal.

Fr. Sarojit Mandal was born of Mr. Prodip Mandal and Mrs.Chapala Mandal in 27th January 1993 at Gosaba, 4 No. Arampur. He passed out his primary education from Arampur Balika Bidyalaya, Gosaba; Madhyamik and Higher Secondary from Gosaba Rural Reconstruction Government Sponsored Institution and B.A. from Morning Star College. He completed his Minor Seminary formation from Samarpan, Kalikanan, Baruipur in 2012. In the same year he was promoted to Regional Propadeutic Seminary, Amghata, Krishnanagar for Spirituality Course which he completed in 2013. He pursued his philosophical studies from Morning Star Regional Seminary, Barrackpore in 2016. Two years later after his regency in Sacred Heart Church, Morapi and St. joseph's Church, Sajnaberia he was sent to St. Charles Seminary, Nagpur for his theological studies in 2018. It is there he was ordained deacon on 17th of April, 2021 by His Grace Most Reverend Elias Gonsalves, Arch-Bishop of Nagpur. He had his diaconate ministry in Ascension Church, Khari & St. Charles Seminary, Nagpur respectively.
